Carina González

Carina González is a Full Professor of Computer Architecture Technology at the Department of Computer Engineering and Systems of the University of La Laguna (ULL) and the current Director of the Women Research Institute at ULL. Carina received a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2001) from the University of La Laguna and a Ph.D. in Social Science and Education (2020) (Best Ph.D. Award) by the University of Huelva (Spain). Bachelor in Computer Science (1995) by the National University of Northeast (Argentina), certified as Computer Engineering by the Spanish Ministry of Education (1999). She is also certified in “Early Childhood Technology” by Tufts University (USA) (2018) and in Human-Computer-Interaction by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) (2020).
She actively participates in the IEEE (IEEE Senior Member), mainly with the Education Chapter being the Editor in Chief of the IEEE Journal of Latin-American Learning Technologies (IEEE-RITA), Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Education Journal, Associate Editor of the Computers in Human-Behaviour, among other international journals.
Her research interests are focused in human-centered design, intelligent and adaptive systems, gamification and the inclusion of the gender perspective and intersectional analysis in research and, in particular, in technology.
Els Rommes

Els Rommes is director of the research institute Radboud Social Cultural Research and Associate Professor at Gender & Diversities at the Radboud University Nijmegen. She received her PhD in Gender and STS and has been guest professor in Norway, Canada and Germany. She was coordinator of the national STS research school WTMC (science, technology and modern culture). She was WP leader or PI of over 20 large-scale (inter)national projects and was (co)author of the books ‘Gender Perspectives on Information Society Technology’ (2007) and ‘Technologies of Inclusion’ (2011). Rommes’ research areas include gendered design and use of ICTs, teenagers’ educational choices, youth and sexualities and (cultural) diversities in youth care (systems).
Milagros Sáinz

Milagros Sáinz is the director of the Gender and ICT research group (GENTIC) at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute of the UOC. She received her doctorate degree in Social Psychology from the National University of Distance Education (UNED) and a degree in Psychology from the University of Salamanca. As a researcher, she is an expert in the study of the influence of gender roles and stereotypes on study choices; gender stereotypes about ability self-concepts, achievement and task-choices; and the gendered construction of professional careers, with a particular focus on STEM fields. In relation to these lines of research, she has published her work in outstanding international journal articles. She has led more than 10 competitive projects and has had an advisory role in several national and international organizations such as United Nations Women or South African National Research Foundation. She has been a pre-doctoral research fellow at the University of Stanford and the Technology University of Berlin, as well as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan with mobility grants funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education (José Castillejo) and the Generalitat of Catalunya (BE).For further information: https://gender-ict.net/people/milagros-sainz/
Sara García-Cuesta

Sara García Cuesta is full professor of Sociology at the University of Valladolid and has also been full professor at the University of La Laguna, where she worked for 20 years (2002-2022). Previously, contract professor in other academic entities, social and market research technician in consultancy and research fellow at UNED and CIS (1998-2002). Honorary member of the IUEM-ULL, she is also a member of the UVA Gender Chair, the Chair of Globalization, Migrations, Gender ULL, Chair of African Studies UVA, among other research networks. She is Academic Secretary of the elected Committee of Sociology of Gender of the Spanish Federation of Sociology. Member of the Recognized Research Group of Applied Social Sciences UVA and the Consolidated Research Group Gender, migrations and citizenship ULL. Member of AMIT (Association of Women Researchers and Technologists) and REUNIFEM (Feminist University Network). Her lines of research in social studies have been developed through projects from a gender approach with a Human Rights perspective since 2002 on different aspects: analysis of forced migrations, trafficking in women and other forms of sexual exploitation, social policies for migrants, fertility control policies, career paths and gender and the design of equality policies.
